A Sneak Peek into the Future of Breast Cancer Screening

A Sneak Peek into the Future of Breast Cancer Screening - Leigh Infirmary WWL

We’re thrilled to share an exciting update from our recent visit to the Leigh Infirmary WWL, where groundbreaking advancements in breast screening are taking shape.

Leigh Infirmary is a cornerstone of healthcare in the community of Greater Manchester. Managed by the respected Wrightington, Wigan, and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust, this facility is dedicated to providing compassionate care and fostering innovation. Here, patients are valued members of a community-focused healthcare environment, where dedicated professionals work tirelessly to earn and maintain the community’s trust.

Our founder, Debbie, had the honour of meeting Mary Fleming, the newly appointed Chief Executive of Wrightington, Wigan, and Leigh Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. Together, they embarked on a tour of the state-of-the-art Breast Screening Centre, led by none other than Dr. Amruta Talwalkar, the Director of South Lancashire Breast Screening Service and a distinguished Consultant Radiologist.

Accompanied by a dedicated team including Amy Bissell, Operational Manager of South Lancashire Breast Screening, Grace Easton, Breast Screening Imaging Lead, and Janet Ellison, Cancer Screening Improvement Lead, we were given an exclusive glimpse into the future of breast cancer diagnostics.

Amidst the informative tour, they paused to indulge in coffee and delectable cupcakes, a heartwarming gesture from a patient whose journey was transformed by the ultrasound machine generously donated to The Thomas Linacre Centre by BOBC. It’s moments like these that underscore the profound impact of our collective efforts.

As everyone navigated through the discussions, the focus turned towards how BOBC could further enhance services for our patients by leveraging the latest advancements in diagnostic equipment. The commitment to innovation and patient-centric care echoed throughout the conversations, reinforcing our shared dedication to improving outcomes for those affected by breast cancer.

This visit served as a poignant reminder of the power of collaboration and innovation in the fight against breast cancer. With each step forward, we are not only transforming lives but also shaping the future of breast cancer care.

Thank you for your unwavering support on this journey. Together, we are making a difference.
