Game-Changing Donation Brings Cutting-Edge Tech to Local Breast Cancer Patients

We’re absolutely thrilled to share some incredible news! Thanks to your unwavering support, Boot Out Breast Cancer has made a major donation of nearly £140,000 to the West Herts Hospitals Charity’s Breast Cancer Appeal, smashing their £200,000 fundraising target. This donation has funded two Savi Scout® surgical guidance systems, a state-of-the-art technology that’s going to make a real difference for breast cancer patients treated at St Albans City Hospital.

This cutting-edge system uses radar technology to detect cancer with pinpoint accuracy – within one millimetre – making surgeries more precise, less invasive, and helping patients recover faster. It’s a real step forward in breast cancer care, and we’re so proud to play a part in bringing it to West Herts.

When I first heard about this appeal, I knew we had to get involved. Having gone through my own breast cancer journey, I understand how crucial access to the right equipment is for diagnosis and treatment. At Boot Out Breast Cancer, every penny we raise is dedicated to providing the very best for NHS breast cancer patients, and this project is a shining example of what we can achieve together.

Miss Lee-Min Lai, a Consultant Breast Surgeon at West Herts Hospitals, summed it up perfectly:
“The Savi Scout systems are a game-changer for breast cancer surgery. They enable us to perform more accurate and less invasive procedures, improving outcomes and providing a better experience for our patients. We are incredibly grateful to Debbie and everyone who has supported this appeal.”

Hearing this feedback makes all our efforts so worthwhile, doesn’t it?

This appeal has been a team effort, with so many individuals and groups chipping in to make it happen. Highlights include:

  • £31,000 raised by the Titty Trail, an 11-mile trek from Watford General Hospital to St Albans.
  • £700 from St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School in South Oxhey.
  • £2,000 from The Hospital Saturday Fund.
  • A generous £5,000 pledge from an anonymous trust.
  • £2,000 from All Aboard Shops, which operate in London and Manchester.
