Boot Out Breast Cancer Founder Debbie Dowie Named Charity Supporter of the Year at FABB Awards 2026
Boot Out Breast Cancer is delighted to announce that our founder and Chair, Debbie Dowie, has been recognised as Charity Supporter of the Year at the FABB Awards 2026, hosted by Our Bolton NHS Charity and Bolton NHS Foundation Trust.
Held last Friday, the annual FABB Awards celebrate the outstanding NHS and healthcare workers who work tirelessly to deliver and support exceptional care for communities across Bolton.
Debbie received the award in recognition of her incredible dedication to improving breast cancer care and supporting patients following her own experience with the disease.
Turning Personal Experience into Lasting Change
Seventeen years ago, Debbie was diagnosed with breast cancer in the Sunflower Suite at Bolton Hospital. Rather than allowing her experience to define her, she channelled it into a determination to make a difference for others facing a similar journey.
This led to the founding of Boot Out Breast Cancer, a charity dedicated to raising funds for vital equipment, improving facilities and supporting breast cancer services.
Under Debbie’s leadership, the charity has raised more than £2 million, including over £200,000 for breast services in Bolton. These funds have helped provide essential equipment and improve facilities, making a meaningful difference to patients receiving care.
What began as a personal mission has grown into an extraordinary legacy, demonstrating the power of community fundraising and the difference one person’s determination can make.

This award is a wonderful recognition of Debbie’s unwavering commitment, generosity and hard work over the past 17 years. Her dedication continues to inspire everyone involved with Boot Out Breast Cancer, as well as the many supporters, fundraisers and volunteers who help us make a difference.
