Supporting BOBC at the Mayor’s Parlour
Last week, we had the pleasure of attending a truly memorable afternoon at the Mayor’s Parlour in Bolton Town Hall. Courtesy of our wonderful supporter Priya Chauhan. Priya generously bid for this exclusive experience at last year’s Boot Out Breast Cancer (BOBC) Charity Ball.
Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed and led into a stunning banquet room. Here, we were treated to a delightful spread of Prosecco and afternoon tea. The food was kindly provided by the talented team at Bella’s Bakes Bolton. These delicious treats perfectly complemented the occasion.
Exploring Bolton’s Rich History
Our afternoon wasn’t just about good food and conversation—it was also an opportunity to delve into the rich history of Bolton and its longstanding tradition of supporting the local community. Mayor Andy Morgan and Mayoress Karen Holdsworth gave us a fascinating insight into the history, tradition, and Royal connections associated with the role of the Mayor.
We were privileged to see, up close, the chains, the Mace, and the badges that have been used by Bolton’s mayors over the decades. It was incredible to learn that Bolton’s first mayor, Charles James Darbishire, took office in 1838 when the Municipal Borough of Bolton was established. The Mayor’s Parlour, with its grandeur and sense of history, provided the perfect setting to reflect on how the town’s leaders have continuously worked to make Bolton a thriving and caring community.
Interestingly, the Mayor’s role operates similarly to the House of Parliament. This of course at a local level, where councillors make decisions to benefit the borough. This system ensures that communities receive the support and services they need. It was inspiring to witness firsthand how the Mayor’s office continues to uphold these values.
Bringing the Community Together
The afternoon was filled with laughter, conversation, and a genuine sense of togetherness. It served as a powerful reminder of how important it is to come together, share experiences, and support causes that make such a lasting impact. Events like these highlight the strength of our community and the importance of giving back.
At BOBC, we’ve always been passionate about making a difference in the Bolton area. Over the years, we’ve funded lifesaving breast cancer diagnostic equipment for hospitals across Bolton, Bury, and Wigan. Ensuring that patients receive the best possible care. It’s thanks to the generosity of our supporters, like Priya and everyone who attended the Mayor’s Parlour event, that we can continue our mission to support individuals and families affected by breast cancer.
Thank You for Your Support
A huge thank you to Priya Chauhan for her incredible generosity and to the Mayor and Mayoress for hosting such an enlightening and enjoyable afternoon. Your continued support strengthens the work we do and brings us closer to a future where early detection and better treatment options become a reality for everyone.
As we look ahead to another exciting year for Boot Out Breast Cancer, we’re reminded that it’s moments like these that truly inspire us to keep pushing forward. Together, we’re making a real difference in the fight against breast cancer—and for that, we are endlessly grateful.
